The Brian Moyer Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Brian Moyer Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of Brian Moyer, an Apex Friendship High School band booster parent who passed unexpectedly in November 2021.
Brian was a dedicated father and husband above all. He was also an active volunteer in the community, including dedicating many hours to the Apex Friendship High School band program. He had an ability to connect with people and made friends everywhere he went. Brian loved music, and especially loved playing the drums with his son, Anthony. Through his volunteer work with the band, Brian saw firsthand the benefits that high schoolers obtain from being part of musical ensembles such as marching band.
It is because of that experience and Brian’s love of music that the Moyer family has established the Brian Moyer Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Moyer family, along with the AFHS band staff, want to ensure that the financial obligation of marching band and indoor winter programs does not prohibit interested students from being able to experience the joy of band and the lessons imparted by working together in a musical ensemble.
If you are interested in donating to the Brian Moyer Memorial Scholarship Fund to support music education, please use the donation link below or make a check out to AFHS Band Boosters and mail to PO Box 585, Apex, NC 27502.

The Brian Moyer Volunteer Award
Brian’s hard work and humor were a constant presence at band camp, games, and competitions. He was appreciated and loved by the entire band family. Brian never hesitated to “fill the chair” – to step in and help no matter what was needed.
His family would like that spirit to live on and have established the Brian Moyer Volunteer Award to annually recognize a volunteer who consistently “fills the chair” for the band program.
Past Recipients of the Brian Moyer Volunteer Award include:
Russell Brown, 2023-2024 Season
Tiffany O’Neal, 2022-2023 Season
Jason Powers, 2021-2022 Season
